How Is Solar Energy Easily Renewed Through Modern Technology
It might be presumed
that every form of energy we have right now
can somehow trace its roots to solar energy.
For instance, wind turbines capture energy
from the wind which is believed to fluctuate
due to changes in solar energy radiation coming
from the sun. Even fossil fuels are derived
from the bodies of animals long gone and extinct
which used to survive due to the presence
of sunlight. Solar energy is very important
to our survival and has been even before man
started trying to capture the power of solar
energy to meet his survival needs.
Basically, we get our solar energy stocks
renewed simply by waiting every day for the
sun to start shining so our many solar energy
systems can get enough sunlight to power them.
We now use photovoltaic cells (or solar panels)
to collect our solar energy stocks then use
our many solar energy systems to transform
solar energy itself into the type of energy
(or electricity) that is useful for our needs.
Photovoltaic cells are one type of modern
technology for gathering solar energy and
there are other ways of collecting sunlight
too (like using mirrors to catch disparate
rays of sunlight to concentrate into a small
surface.)
On days when we lack sunlight, our solar energy
systems can rely on storage batteries where
we deposit our solar energy stocks during
times when surplus energy is available. We
must then wait for sunlight to reappear for
us to be able to replenish our solar energy
stocks later on.
The use of solar energy systems is directly
related to the concept and philosophy of energy
conservation – meaning, if we manage
to develop solar energy systems that get better
at shoring up our solar energy stocks then
we can always use our current sources of fuel
for those times when it is absolutely necessary
to use these conventional fuel supplies. Energy
conservation also requires us to understand
why we use energy and when it is best to use
one form of energy and when it is not. Furthermore,
energy conservation means rationalizing how
we use energy so that we only use what is
necessary for us.
Even solar energy stocks might not be a 100%
reliable and dependable source of energy at
present, despite advances in modern technology
that have resulted in development of better
solar energy systems which are easier to use,
stock up more solar energy for future use,
and help us use energy more efficiently. And
with our sources of other fuel supplies dwindling
fast as we use them (leaving behind a wasted
environment), it is very important to support
the growth of the solar energy generation
and solar energy systems manufacturing industries
so that economies of scale can be achieved.
This in turn will lower the price of solar
energy generation and solar energy systems
manufacturing so that even ordinary consumers
can benefit from a switch to solar energy
systems for the long term – and maybe
even permanently.
